Apple picking at Mountain Orchards

Today we headed out to Mountain Orchards to go apple picking. We went there last year and it was a great place to bring the kids.

We arrived their about 10am and the place was just like last year. Everything was setup the same. The kids headed over to the hay jump, but unfortunately they was no large bales of hay to jump off of, like last year, it was just hay all over the place. So that was a bit of a disappointment.

We hopped on the first tractor pull and headed out to the orchard. The weather was beautiful. The kids were excited to be there. We picked a 10lb bag to collect our apples in, and headed over to pick honey gold's for cooking with. The apples this year, are all pitted due to a hail storm that went through a while back, so they don't look as good as they normally do, but they still taste the same. We picked mostly honey golds and a few Macintosh apples for making candy apples with.

After picking, we went back on the tractor pull, bought some apple donuts, and a candy apple making kit and then put all our stuff in the car. We enjoyed the apple donuts at the park and the kids got a chance to play a little. Then we walked over to the corn maze and the we all went through and then the kids went through by themselves. They had a great time.

After that we headed home and made 4 apple crisps, and 10 candy apples. It all turned out really good. It was a great day.
